As the House, the Senate and the Administration were negotiating the deal to raise the debt ceiling, the ratings agencies let it be known that an increase in the debt ceiling that was not accompanied by substantial cuts in spending would result in a downgrade of the nation’s credit rating.

When the deal was done and the debt ceiling was raised, relatively little spending was cut. We were left with promises they would cut more in the future.  Standard and Poor’s did exactly what they said they would do, they downgraded our credit rating.

The House of Representatives recently passed H.R. 3, which is called “The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.” Although it is unlikely that the bill will pass the U.S. Senate, it was still good to get a recorded vote on whether members of Congress believe our taxes should be used to fund abortion.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is a treaty that President Obama and many liberal senators would like to see ratified.  They know once it is ratified, this treaty would supersede local and state laws and would force American citizens to raise their children as directed by the United Nations.  Our local and state elected representatives would be powerless to defend us against the force of this treaty.
 
Please contact both of your US senators today and ask them to co-sponsor SR 99, a resolution that will block the ratification of this treaty.  We only need a few more senators to sign on to this resolution to protect our parental rights against this threat.

The Justice Department has announced it will not defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court. This could force states that have voted to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman to recognize same-sex marriages from other states. Please send an email to your representative and your senators to ask them to defend this important law.
